What You Don’t Know About Hotel Sofa Beds Could Ruin Your Vacation

With over 7500 hotel properties that can accommodate six, and some properties up to 8 and even 10, you can easily find a hotel for your big family. However, there is one more hotel amenity that you need to consider when choosing a hotel before you book. Sofa sleeper size. There’s three types of hotel sofa sleepers that might not be a fit for your big family if you have teens.

    Small size

Imagine walking into your hotel with your crew and seeing a small sofa sleeper (full size or smaller) you thought two of your teens would sleep on together. That could be a deal breaker. A vacation ruiner.

    Sofa/Chaise Sleeper

This year I’ve revisited every listing making sure the property can accommodate six with permanent bedding – no rollaways. I’ve eliminated some properties and added many more.

In this process, one hotel room design aspect I’ve noticed is the substituting of queen sized sofa sleepers to sofa/chaise sleepers. Now while this makes the room more comfortable to lounge in, it also makes the sofa bed a lot smaller.

If you have littles, smaller ones may enjoy the division of the chaise and sofa bed as two different spaces/beds.

    Fancy Couches

While pleasing to the eye, this sofa sleeper from Courtyard is really only good for those with littles. Who like each other. But not too much that they can’t settle down and sleep.

    Review the pics

When adding hotels to the site, if applicable, I try to add pictures of the room’s sofa sleeper. This helps you better choose rooms that will work for your family. And I encourage you to upload pictures of sofa sleepers when you leave your hotel review. Hmm. That sounds like a contest for next year – hotel sofa sleeper pictures and reviews.

As always, help other big families like yours; leave a hotel review!

Over time, the website has grown to include travel advice, itineraries, road trip suggestions, national park guides, and more.
