Completing Your Summer 2011 Travel List
Summer has ended for many of us as the beginning of school creeps up earlier and earlier each year. Baby Momo went back August 1st which isn’t much later than when we were on an all year round school schedule. And with school getting out later as some schools let out after Memorial Day (really what are they accomplishing those last 3 days anyway?), Summer vacation travel time is in short supply.
This year we had 58 days of summer vacation. We managed to get in a two week trip to the family cabin, a 4 day trip to the Rocky Mountains, trips to local water parks, day trip to Colorado Springs, trip to the Denver Zoo, a day trip to the Henry Doorly Zoo, and a fantastic excursion to Centennial airport for free airplane rides.
Which I think is a pretty packed summer, especially since Baby Momo started her 16 week training for 2nd degree black belt in mid-June. Talk about eating up a lot of summer vacation!
And yet, I felt guilty on days when we did get a chance to just relax around the house. I kept wondering where we should be going, what day trip should I plan and how could I add an educational aspect so the kiddos’ brains wouldn’t turn to mush over summer vacation. 😉
How about you? Did you complete your travel wish list for this summer? Are you trying to get one more trip or excursion in? Got plans for Labor Day weekend? Did you manage to make your family trip educational? Tell me about it.
Now the kids are back in school, it’s time for me to settle down and work on SixSuitcaseTravel. There’s a lot more research to do, I’m always looking for hotels that can sleep 5, 6, 7, 8. I have a ton of new ideas that I want to incorporate to the site. As always I welcome your ideas!
