Who doesn’t love the Little House books?  Today in 1867, Laura Ingalls Wilder was born in a log cabin near Pepin, WI.

If you’ve read her books, you know her family moved many times while she grew up.  Today, many of these location have historic sites devoted to her memory.

Very often while racing to your travel destination, you might see a sign that a Laura historic site is nearby. If you’re like me, you don’t think about a pit stop like this before your trip to schedule time to stop.  To help you fit in a visit, we’d thought we would list the historic sites here.

The main historic site is  the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum in Mansfield, MO where Laura and her husband Almanzo lived most of their married lives.

Other historic locations that reflect Laura’s life can be found in:

The links take you to LaurasPraireHouse.com which has a great explanation of each of these historic sites and a plethora of other Laura information.

This summer make time to visit one of these sites.  Haven’t read the books?  Borrow them on audiobooks from the library to listen to on your trip!
