Large Families Will Love Flagstaff, Arizona

    Thursday Travel Thoughts

    Flagstaff, AZ

Traveling with a big family can take work.  Having all your kids cooped up in cars, planes, and hotel rooms can be the perfect recipe for fights and arguments.  Sometimes you just need to find some wide-open spaces so that your children can spread out a little and stop rubbing each other the wrong way.  Flagstaff, Arizona can be the perfect place to enjoy beautiful wide-open spaces, a relaxing environment, and exciting activities for your children.

Flagstaff is located in Northern Arizona.  Within the city, there are a number of different things to do.  You and your children can attend musical performances and cultural exhibits.  You can enjoy fine or casual dining at one of the city’s many restaurants.  You can visit art, history, and science museums.

However, most of the real fun to be had in Flagstaff will take place outside.  The city is located in a beautiful forest of Ponderosa pine trees, and it is the perfect place for  your family to enjoy the outdoors.  The city features a beautiful golf course and a number of parks, and its Flagstaff Urban Trails System offers nearly 50 miles of hiking, biking, and running possibilities.

In the winter, Flagstaff is a great place to play in the snow.  Kids love the opportunities for sledding and skiing that Flagstaff provides.  There are also opportunities for snowmobiling and snowshoeing.

A wealth of beautiful and interesting attractions are available just outside the city as well.  Your children will love getting to see the Grand Canyon, located only 80 miles from Flagstaff.  35 miles outside of Flagstaff, they can see an exciting and unusually well-preserved meteor crater.    Also nearby, they can see Montezuma Castle National Monument, an ancient Native American cliff dwelling.

Whether you visit in the summer or the winter, you’ll find plenty of space in Flagstaff to stretch and enjoy yourselves.  Your kids will love the chance to experience nature, and they’ll love how open and expansive the city feels.  Sometimes big families need big places.
