It overlooks the entire Judean\nDesert and the Dead Sea. Herod the Great built palaces for himself on the\nhilltop and legend speaks of a great war that ended in a tragedy during the\nfirst Jewish-Roman war. Today it is one of Israel\u2019s most popular tourist\ndestinations and is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sixsuitcasetravel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Masada-View-From-Cable-Car-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14210\" width=\"576\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sixsuitcasetravel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Masada-View-From-Cable-Car-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sixsuitcasetravel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Masada-View-From-Cable-Car-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><figcaption>Masada View from Cable Car<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There are hiking trails for those who want to try them but for easier access, there is the Masada Cableway, a cable car that will take you to the top of the mesa. The best time to go is first thing in the morning or off-peak summer season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sixsuitcasetravel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Masada-1-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14214\" width=\"576\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sixsuitcasetravel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Masada-1-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sixsuitcasetravel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Masada-1-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There is very little shade and the site is massive. It is a salt lake whose\nbanks are more than 400m below sea level, the lowest point on dry land. For a\nunique experience this is a must stop in Israel. Some will choose to stay and\nenjoy coating the mineral rich mud on their bodies, float in the water and\nrelax at the nearby spa hotels but our family chose to stay only a few hours.\nIt was a nice way to end our brief stopover in the Judean Desert after walking\naround Masada. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sixsuitcasetravel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Dead-Sea-Floating-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14200\" width=\"576\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sixsuitcasetravel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Dead-Sea-Floating-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sixsuitcasetravel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Dead-Sea-Floating-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Of note \u2013 because of the high\ncontent of salt, any cuts or skin irritations will be uncomfortable. It is also\nnot recommended to take extremely young children into the water, as you must\nnot put your face in the water. You will emerge with a coat of salt on your\nskin, but the nearby outdoor showers and change rooms allows you to rinse off\nand change. The best way to experience the Dead Sea is to spread the mud all\nover your entire body and then submerge your body in the water allowing\nyourself to float. A\npopular resort town, there is something for everyone of all ages to enjoy from\nluxury hotels with cooling pools, beautiful beaches, nightlife, restaurants and\na nightly boardwalk full of shops with a carnival-like atmosphere. People come\nto Eilat to have fun and relax. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\nare numerous hotels or apartments to choose from in Eilat and the best way to\nexperience the city is to wander around. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Top\nFive Things To Do In Eilat<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<strong>1. Free to everyone, this fountain turns into a musical\nwater dance each Tuesday and Thursday \u2013 Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and again at\n8:30 pm. During the day the fountain is used as a water park for children to\nrun through and cool down but at night transforms into a beautiful display of\ncolour, water and music that will delight all ages of your large family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5. This is the place to be at night, soak in the Israeli hospitality, buy souvenirs or just enjoy the family-friendly spectacle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our family trip to Israel covered a lot of history. We tried a lot of different foods and had the chance to experience a culture that is an important part of my family\u2019s heritage.
