The beauty of the Pacific Northwest is nearly indescribable and is even better appreciated up close. Oregon is host to 256 state parks, 4 of which offer a more rustic means of staying and enjoying the sights in cabins with your family. While some parks offer cabins or yurts that state they accommodate up to 8, however, there are only mattresses for 5 people to be accommodated comfortably. We did not include those parks here. We were disappointed that the 27 options the Oregon State Park search gave us, only 4 parks truly sleep big families.<\/p>\n

Cottonwood Canyon State Park, OR<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Cottonwood Canyon State Park is rugged and vast, from the vertical cliffs carved by the John Day River to deep side canyons and arid, rocky grasslands that extend for miles in all directions. The park\u2019s 8,000-plus acres is very popular among hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. The Lost Corral Trail and Pinnacles Trail are two of the most trafficked options in the park and are great ways to explore the park’s beautiful landscape.<\/div>\n

Four cabins can sleep families of up to 8. Located near the Experience Center, the cabins include 2 bunk beds with single mattresses, 1 full-size bed, and 1 double futon couch. Cabins include heating, air conditioning, and electricity.<\/div>\n

Lake Owyhee State Park, OR<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Lake Owyhee State Park is a remote oasis catering to camping and boating on the shore of a scenic desert canyon reservoir. Owyhee Reservoir is a 53-mile-long lake, filling a narrow, deep canyon brimming with colorful volcanic rock formations. The cabins at Indian Creek Campground at Lake Owyhee State Park are reservable March 1 through November 14th.<\/p>\n

Two cabins will sleep six with two double beds and a set of single bunk beds. Bring your own bedding, towels, toiletries, dishes, cooking, and eating utensils. Cabins have electric outlets, lighting, heat, and air conditioning.<\/p>\n

Prineville Reservoir State Park, OR<\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Prineville Reservoir State Park is located on one of sunny Central Oregon’s favorite lakes.  The park features year-round camping, fishing, water recreation, cabin rentals, and other recreational opportunities. Activities include swimming, boating, hiking, wildlife viewing, and spectacular scenery. Prineville Reservoir offers excellent day-use facilities, including a sandy volleyball court, swimming\/sunbathing area, fish cleaning station, ADA picnic pad, ADA fishing pier, and a boat launch.<\/div>\n
Cabins sleep six with two double beds and two single beds. Bring your own bedding, towels, dishes, cooking, and eating utensils. There is a full bathroom\/shower inside the cabin. A microwave oven is available for cooking. An outdoor barbecue with propane is available, along with a fire pit and picnic table.<\/div>\n

Silver Falls State Park<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n

Often called the \u201ccrown jewel\u201d of the Oregon State Parks System, Silver Falls is a park not <\/em>to be missed. Located in the foothills of Oregon\u2019s Cascade Mountain and less than an hour away from the state capital of Salem, Silver Falls reigns as Oregon\u2019s largest state park and one of its most popular. The Trail of Ten Falls offers a 7.2-mile loop of breathtaking falls and plenty of side trails to make one\u2019s own adventures.<\/p>\n

Cabins are available within Silver Falls for reservation. Seven will sleep 6 with a futon, a double bed, and a set of bunk beds; bring your own bedding. Look for CAB02, CAB03, CAB07, CAB08, CAB09, CAB10, and CAB23.  The cabin loop has a shower\/restroom building. Campers staying in the cabins use their cabin key to access the building.<\/p>\n
