Traveling with the larger than average family can be a bit costly. That\u2019s why I\u2019m always on the lookout for budget friendly lodging that makes an impression. Hotels that offer that little something special to make me feel as though my family of five is welcome and not a burden.<\/p>\n

\"La<\/a><\/p>\n

La Quinta Inn & Suites in Bowling Green<\/a>, Kentucky is one of the few properties that my family has stayed at over and over again. Easy on the wallet, with room to sleep six, this hotel is easy to access off I-65 and offers clean rooms, an indoor pool, a hot complimentary breakfast sausage, biscuits and eggs and free Otis Spunkmeyer cookies in the afternoon. If you travel with your four-legged family members, there are rooms that will accommodate them as well.<\/p>\n

\"Corvette<\/a><\/p>\n

Bowling Green has no shortage of attractions for your family to enjoy, beginning with the popular National Corvette Museum<\/a>, which made headlines in February when a giant sinkhole swallowed eight of their most prized cars. The Corvettes have since been extracted from the sinkhole and will be on display throughout the summer- easily the most popular exhibit in the museum at this time.<\/p>\n

\"Corvette<\/a><\/p>\n

If your children are 7 and older, you may enjoy taking a guided tour through the nearby GM Corvette Assembly Plant<\/a> where you\u2019ll see the Stingray in production. Before your 45-minute tour of the factory floor begins, you\u2019ll watch a short video explaining the science behind the construction. Not only is this a fun stop for those that appreciate a fast car, but it\u2019s also an opportunity to show your children the different jobs that are available in a manufacturing plant.<\/p>\n

The Kentucky State Museum<\/a> on the Western Kentucky University campus is a hidden gem. You can view three floors of galleries, to learn about (you guessed it) Kentucky history as well as history that has affected the US as well. You\u2019ll see slave quarters, learn about the Civil War and learn about one of Bowling Green\u2019s celebrity residents, Duncan Hines.<\/p>\n

\"Family<\/a><\/p>\n

The interactive exhibits at the Historic Railpark and Train Museum<\/a> can keep your family busy for as long or as little as you like. Your tour begins in a waiting area where you depart to tour the restored train cars on site before concluding your tour in the museum. If you\u2019ve ever wondered what the difference is between a hobo, a tramp or a bum, this is the stop for you.<\/p>\n

If you love outdoors, the Lost River Cave<\/a> offers visitors an opportunity to get a glimpse of Kentucky\u2019s only underground boat tour. The grounds boast walking trails and a butterfly habitat which are free to check out.<\/p>\n

\"Vettetastic<\/a><\/p>\n

If you love roadside attractions, you may enjoy going on a Vettetastic Hunt<\/a>. You\u2019ll find five decorated mini-Corvettes placed around town at key locations.<\/p>\n

As a mom, I can tell you that none of our trips are complete without ice cream. Chaney\u2019s Dairy Barn & Restaurant<\/a> is rumored to offer the best homemade ice cream in Bowling Green. With the picnic-style seating for the entire family and homemade soups, salads and sandwiches at affordable prices make this one stop you\u2019ll want to bounce on- especially with the new jumbo jumping pillow outside.<\/p>\n
