5 New Hampshire State Parks with Big Family Friendly Cabins

    New Hampshire has 93 state park properties, of those, five offer cabin accommodations for big families. With only 15 total cabins for big families, you’ll want to reserve early!


    Coleman State Park 

    Coleman State Park lies on the shore of Little Diamond Pond in Stewartstown, twelve miles east of Colebrook in New Hampshire’s remote north country.  The park is an excellent base for snowmobiling, OHRV riding, fall hunting, hiking, canoeing, and snowshoeing.

    The Lodges at Coleman State Park has 3 rentals for big families, sleeping up to 8:

    Whiskey Jack Lodge – Amenities includes 2 bedrooms, furnished living room, 1 bunk bed (twin top, full bottom), 2 full futons (located in the living room), 1 queen bed, gas fireplace, full bathroom, full master bathroom with jetted tub, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, satellite television, parking, phone, and 1 bay garage. Linens are provided.

    Osprey Lodge –  Amenities includes 2 bedrooms, furnished living room, 2 twin bunk beds, queen bed, full futon (located in the living room), gas fireplace, full bathroom, full master bathroom, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, parking, phone, satellite television, and 1 bay garage. Linens are provided.

    Snowy Owl Lodge –  Amenities includes 3 bedrooms, furnished living room, 2 bunk beds (twin top, full bottom), queen bed, gas fireplace, full bathroom, full master bathroom, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, phone, satellite television, and parking. Linens are provided.



    Deer Mountain State Park

    Deer Mountain Campground is just five minutes south of the Canadian border and 13 miles from Lake Francis. It is adjacent to the stretch of Route 3 north of Pittsburg, referred to as Moose Alley, which makes it a prime location for moose viewing.

    The park only has one cabin but it can accommodate families of up to 8. The one-room cabin offers queen-sized bunk beds and a loft with a queen-size bed. There is a full-size futon as well. The cabin is rustic with no indoor plumbing.



    Jericho Mountain State Park

    Jericho Mountain State Park provides opportunities for miles of trail riding for ATV, UTV, trail bike, and snowmobile enthusiasts alike. Throughout the park, visitors are treated to a number of scenic outlooks. Park guests can also enjoy swimming, fishing, canoeing, and picnicking at Jericho Lake.

    The park offers 5 rustic cabins that will sleep families of six with a double and 2 sets of single bunk beds. A camp store, flush toilets, showers, and washers/dryers
    are located in the bathhouse. Pit toilets and water faucets are available throughout the campground.



    Pawtuckaway State Park

    Less than 40 minutes to the coastal beaches to the east and to Manchester to the west, Pawtuckaway State Park Campground is well located for easy access to a variety of attractions and activities. The 5,500-acre park offers visitors hiking, mountain biking, boating, swimming, and fishing activities. All camping sites are wooded and many provide views of Lake Pawtuckaway. Canoe and paddleboat rentals are available. Coin-operated showers are accessible 24 hours a day.

    Five available cabins will sleep families of up to six with 2 bunk beds and a full-size futon. Guests are required to bring their own bedding, stove, lanterns, and cookware.



    Umbagog State Park

    One of the most pristine lakes in New Hampshire, Umbagog Lake State Park has been ranked as one of the top five kayak spots in New England. The park also offers excellent fishing and swimming.

    The Ellis camps offer 4 remote cabins rentals in the northwest section of Umbagog Lake.  The cabins are all lakefront and accessible only by boat. One will sleep families of up to six.

    Ellis Cabin – Max 6 people, full-size bunk bed, full-size futon, rollaway bed, porch, solar power, heat, pots/pans, utensils, gas stovetop, fire pit, and picnic table.
